German, wall mounted Aneroid barometer and thermometer. This thermometer is unusual in that it uses the Celsius and Reaumur scale. The Reaumur scale was invented in 1730 by Rene Reaumur and had wide spread use in Europe in the 18th and 19th century, c1880
CONDITION:
Ebonized hardwood case in nice condition with a small piece missing on the back side of one the columns that supports the thermometer. It is not visible from the front. Clean dial on the barometer; weather indications in German. Ht. 15.5"
